Established in 2011 by husband-wife duo Ksenija & John House, Ovum was founded in hopes of producing Oregon white wines that are honest reflections of time and place. Their low intervention production method is a commitment to letting the wine and vineyard shine, not the winemaker: at Ovum, fruit comes first. Rare Form For Love Nor Money 2020 is an absolutely stunning wine made from 100% Riesling. White gold in the glass, it has aromas of ripe pears and golden apple; under the fresh fruit layer sits a brooding sea of herbs – lemon peel, eucalyptus, sage and cassia bark. A lightning bolt of acidity strikes the palate, followed up with cascading flavours of salted lemon and white pineapple soaked in chamomile tea. The finish is dry, and layered with dried herbs as the wine warms in the glass. A wine which is built to last, but ready to drink now when paired with fresh seafood or creamy cheeses.
